The Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival is typically held in mid-August, around the August 14th anniversary of the Hansan victory, at the Three Provinces Naval Command (Samdo Sugun Tongjeyeong) and throughout Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province. 🚆 Getting to Tongyeong
Tongyeong is a beautiful port city on the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province. It's a bit far from Seoul, but absolutely worth the trip.
Express Bus is the most common method. From Seoul's Nambu Terminal or Central City Terminal, Tongyeong takes about 4 hours. From Tongyeong Bus Terminal, you can reach the Naval Command festival grounds by city bus or taxi.
KTX + Bus combination is also possible. Take the KTX from Seoul Station to Jinju Station, then transfer to a Tongyeong-bound bus in Jinju.
Driving takes about 4 to 4.5 hours from Seoul. Tongyeong city traffic can get congested during the festival, so public transport is recommended.
Tongyeong is relatively convenient for getting around by public transport. The festival grounds and major attractions are concentrated in the city, so you can explore plenty on foot or by bus.
